Road To the Wedding Part.2....

Nicki sat by the window watching the snow that fell last night melt away from the rays of the sun. She woke up to an empty house, Safaree came and picked up the kids for daycare before she awakened. Nicki was left alone with nothing but her thoughts and all she could think about was Safaree. She couldn't stop replaying in her head one thing he he said to her yesterday, "You couldn't have possibly thought I wouldn't catch feelings...", did that mean he does have feelings for me? She thought to herself.

Nicki walked into the kitchen and poured her some more tea, her throat was becoming sore and she could not afford to become sick. She had to much to do and so little time. Nicki went to get ready before the wedding planner got to her house. Today she was to sign off on the flower selection for the reception, the food, and the cake. Nicki wished she didn't have to do this alone but she was playing the hand she was dealt. An hour and a half later Nicki was sitting in her front room with papers surrounding her for her to sign.

"Carla make sure to tell the chef that my chicken better not be dry." Nicki signed off on the menu.

"I will make sure to relay that message. Now we agree on the yellow and white roses?"

"Yes. You still have that credit card I gave you?" Nicki asked.

"Yes and here are your receipts from my previous purchases for you."

"Thank you my darling."

"If there is nothing else to discuss my work here is done."

"Alright, well I'll talk to you later. You know if any problems arise call me no matter the time."

"Yes I know. Goodbye Nicki." Carla let herself out.

Nicki went and poured her a glass of wine. She sat down on the couch with the throw blanket over her legs. Mentally she went over all the things she had to do as far as work. She had to go and work on her fight choreography. The stunt coordinator was convinced to come to her instead of her going to him. She couldn't stomach leaving her children for a whole month. She sipped her wine and let it warm her body. The house phone rang.

"Hello."

"Hi Ms. Maraj?"

"Yes this is her."

"Hi this is Cindy down at Wilson's Daycare." Nicki sat her glass down.

"Hi Cindy. Is everything alright?"

"There was an incident between Zaria and another child in her class. We need you to come and pick her up."

"I'll be there." Nicki hung up the phone. She quickly put on her heels, coat, grabbed her keys and purse. She was out the door within five minutes.

When Nicki pulled up she seen Safaree locking his car. They walked into the school together both wondering what Zaria could have done. Walking into the main office they spotted Zaria sitting in a chair giving another little girl a death glare. When they seen it was Lucy they knew what was up. Nicki heard Karen ranting coming down the hall. Safaree seen that Nicki was getting amped so he moved in between her and the door. Karen came through the door with the principle. She looked at Lucy's shirt and saw the now drying blood and got even more loud. Nicki sat her coat and purse next to Zaria.

"You okay baby?" Nicki asked Zaria never taking her eyes off Karen.

"Yes." Zaria never took her eyes off Lucy.

"Mrs. Riley what happen?" Safaree asked picking up Zaria.

"It seems that Zaria and Lucy had a fight."

"More like your child attacked my poor daughter." Mrs. Dorsy said.

Zaria squirmed in Safaree's arms.

"Don't act like your daughter is so innocent. She's been picking on Zaria for the longest, finally she had enough and did something about it."

Safaree walked up to her and whispered in her ear.

"Calm down." he said.

"Actually the kids say that Lucy was not bothering Zaria." Mrs. Riley

"See! You need to teach your kids some manners and how to behave." Karen spat out.

"She was actually picking on Daria." Mrs. Riley knocked Mrs. Dorsy of her high horse.

"I knew it. My kids don't fight unless they have a reason." Nicki spat lunging towards Karen. Safaree pushed her back.

"It seems Lucy and a group of girls were making fun of Daria's Dyslexia and that's when Zaria jumped on Lucy and repeatedly punched her in the face until she was pulled away by one of the staff. Now we are going to have to send Zaria home for two days."

"What? You see she was provoked." Nicki said getting angry.

"No Daria was provoked. Zaria had nothing to do with what was happening."

"So she's being punished for defending her sister?"

"Violence will not be tolerated here at Wilson's."

"So Lucy will be getting the same punishment we assume?" Safaree asked.

"She will be sent home for the rest of the day and she has to write an apology to Daria."

"Zaria gets suspended but she has to write some Bull-"

"Nicki!" Safaree cut her off.

Nicki put her coat on and grabbed her purse.

"Give me my baby." She took Zaria from him. "Can I go get her things?" she asked walking out of the office not waiting for a reply.

"I'm sorry we had to meet again under these circumstances Mr. Samules." Mrs. Riley said.

"Yeah me too." Safaree walked out the office as well.

He walked down the hall to the kids classroom and seen Nicki talking to Daria and Ethan outside the door.

"Mommy will be back to pick you up at the end of the day."

"I want to go home too mommy." Daria said.

"No baby. You have to stay here and learn some more so you can come home and teach mommy some stuff." Nicki kissed her forehead.

"Daddy can I have a dollar." Ethan walked up to Safaree.

"Why?"

"Cause..." Ethan tried to think of a reason.

"Boy no. You don't need a dollar." He picked him up and turned him upside down. "You been being good?"

"Yes." Ethan giggled.

"Why didn't you help your sister when she was laying hands?"

"I can't hit girls."

"That's right and you better always remember that." Safaree put him down as Mrs. Jones came out of the classroom with work for Zaria to do at home.

"Alright here are her spelling words she needs to know for Friday and some math problems as well." She handed them to Nicki. "Again Ms. Maraj I'm sorry about this."

"Yeah me too." Nicki rolled up the papers and stuck them in her purse. "Alright you two get back to class and make mommy proud."

"Bye mommy, bye daddy." They said as they went back in the room.

Safaree and Nicki walk out with Zaria. Nicki strapped her in her seat and close the door getting in herself. She was beyond mad at this situation.

Baby Daddy
I'll meet you at your house

She didn't respond, just took off towards the highway.

"I'm sorry mommy." She heard some from the back seat. Nicki looked through her rear view mirror.

"Why baby?"

"For fighting." Zaria looked near tears.

"Well Z fighting is never the answer and you know that. You stood up for your sister and there is nothing wrong with that. Don't feel bad baby you're not in trouble." Nicki took the off ramp. Safaree was right behind her.

Opening the door to the house everyone stepped in and stomped the snow off their boots. Zaria sat on the oak bench and took off her boots handing them to Safaree.

"What am I supposed to do with these?" he asked.

"Put them up." She took Nickis hand. "Mommy can we have lunch."

"You didn't eat at school?"

"I was gonna but then Lucy started messing with Daria and I beat her up." Nicki and Safaree started laughing.

"Oh so you beat her up?" Nicki asked sitting Zaria on the stool at the island.

"Yep."

Safaree turned Zaria around and started checking her for scratches or bruises. He stood her up and pulled down her leggings and check her legs.

"Is she okay?" Nicki asked putting the bread on the griddle to make them grilled cheese sandwiches. She had the tomato soup on the stove heating up.

"Yeah she doesn't have any marks." He pulled her leggings back up. "Way to go slugger." He held his hand out and they slapped fives.

"Don't encourage her Safaree, she was wrong for fighting." She said sternly.

"She knows she's not supposed to be fighting." Safaree picked her up by the front of her shirt and put her above him in the air. "You bet not let me hear you've been fighting anymore. You got it?"

"Yes." She said smiling and giggling.

"See she knows." He said looking at Nicki. "You're to pretty to be fighting." He put Zaria down.

Nicki just shook her head and went back to the grilled cheese. Safaree sat next to Zaria and began to talk to her about what she wanted for her birthday next month.

"Z-Bear do you want water or apple juice?"

"Water." she answered then went back to explaining the bike she wanted.

"You know you have to call Nana and Granny and tell them what happened." Nicki said plating a sandwich and pouring soup in a bowl.

Zaria stopped talking and looked at the back of Nicki. When Nicki turned around with her food they locked eyes.

"Can you tell them pwease?" She asked.

"Nope don't start that 'pwease' talk, you can speak correctly and no you have to tell them." Nicki sat her food down and went back to make another plate. "Do you want food?" she yelled out to Safaree.

"Are you going to throw it at me this time?" He asked. Nicki smiled and took him his food sitting it gently in front of him.

"Is that better?"

"Very, thanks." Nicki rolled her eyes at him and went to sit in her study.

Thirty minutes later Safaree had did some math problems with Zaria until she became sleepy. He put her down for a nap and went to go find Nicki. When he stepped in the study he seen her standing by the window crying. He walked up to her and pulled her into his arms. She held him tight.

"Daria will be fine Nicki."

"I told you what would happen. My baby shouldn't have to go through this." she sobbed.

"Everything will be okay, she will beat this. She is already making progress."

"What's going on here? Nicki why are crying?" They both looked at the doorway to see Damon standing there.

"Oh hey babe." Nicki pulled away from Safaree ticking him off. For those few moments his world felt right with her in his arms then Damon brought him back to reality.

"What's wrong with you?"

"It's nothing, we'll talk about it later." She said. Damon came and hugged her kissing her forehead.

Safaree stormed out of the room.

"What's his problem?" Damon asked.

"I don't know." Nicki lied. They heard the front door slam shut. "I'm going to call Carla and make sure everything is still going smoothly." She kissed him.

"Alright I'm going to the office. We'll talk later okay?"

"Sure." She sat behind her desk and watched him leave out. She pulled out her phone.

Nicki went and got her Finance book to go over it.

Safaree POV
How could she still want to marry that clown? I'm the one she is supposed to be walking down the aisle to marry. I'm the one that loves her unconditionally and would do anything she wanted and needed.

Safaree's thoughts were going a mile a minute. He speed down the streets in his Lambo going 60 over the limit. He had no particular place he was headed he just wanted to drive and get all his thoughts together. Nicki seemed to be in all his thoughts which only made him more angry.

"Fine if she doesn't want me I won't sit around here sad over her ass. I'm not bad looking I can get anybody I want." Safaree slowed down and pulled out his cellphone. He went through his contacts and ran across a someone he hadn't talked to in awhile. He pushed talk.

Four Days later

Safaree went and picked up Daria after school from Nicki's house. When he got there the kids were doing homework so he had to wait around. Nicki tried talking to him but he just ignored her for the most part. Unless it was about the kids or business he felt they had nothing to talk about. When the kids were done he wrapped Daria up and they left.

"So what so you want to do today?"

"Um I don't know?" she said in a small voice.

Nicki told Safaree that Daria hadn't been her usual self since the incident at the school. She wasn't loud and outspoken like she usually was. She just stayed in her room with her dolls.

"What do you mean you don't? Think about all the stuff you want to do and we will pick one to do." He glanced at her through his rear view mirror. She was looking down at her fingers and sighed.

"Arcade I guess." she said softly.

"Okay then to the arcade we go."

Safaree drove for another 20 minutes or so then pulled into the Wacky Zone parking lot. He unfastened Daria and carried her in.

"So what do you want to play first?"

"Soccer." she said dryly and taking off her coat.

"Let's go get tokens, do you want to put the money in?" they walked over to the token machine.

"No, you can do it." She leaned against his leg.

He looked down at her thinking she was exactly like her mom. Whenever Nicki would have something on her mind she would mope around and be up under him. Well she used to, he thought. He shook his head freeing any thoughts of Nicki and got the tokens for them.

"Okay come on."

Daria played the soccer game the whole time. She worked up a sweat and everything. Safaree took it as her letting out her aggression about what was bothering her. He made her stop only when he noticed her breathing was becoming uneven. He gave her a puff of her inhaler.

"Come on baby girl let's go rest and eat. What do you want?" he asked as they sat down at their table.

"I want the fries with the chili on them."

"You trying to be like daddy now?" he tickled her. When they're waiter came he ordered a large chili fry with cheese and two lemonades. While they waited he figured he would start trying to get her to talk.

"So baby girl mommy says she thinks that you're sad?"

"I am." she laid her head on his side.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he sat her on his lap.

"The kids make fun of me. They call me names."

"Like what?"

"Dumb, stupid, we-tard." he tried not to laugh at her pronunciation of the word.

"Daria you are none of those words. You are very smart baby girl." The waiter came back with their fries. He sat her down so she could eat. "Can I tell you something?" She shook her head yes.

"I have dyslexia too." Safaree confessed.

Daria's eyes grew big when he said it. She chewed her fry fast.

"Really?"

"Yes. The kids used to call me those same names but I didn't let that stop me. I eventually learned how to read really good and you will too."

"But I don't have any friends no more. Nobody likes me, they think I'll give them what I have." She stuck another fry in her mouth.

"You have friends baby. Don't let what they say bother you, you will be reading better than them in no time. And you will be the smartest kid in the class and everyone will try and be your friend. Daddy has dyslexia and I'm pretty cool right?" he asked.

"Yeah." She sipped her lemonade getting chili all over the straw. "You have friends too." she said.

"Yeah  I do huh? So you will have friends. You can't let what the other kids say get to you Daria, remember that."

"Okay daddy." She smiled at him. Daria stood up and hugged him around his neck, kissing his cheek getting chili all on the side of his face. "I love you." She sat back down and continued eating.

"I love you to Daria." He wiped his face with a napkin. "So was that all you were sad about?"

"Yep."

"Alright well when we get done Daddy is going to show you how to play the basketball game okay?"

"Okay daddy."

Safaree was happy he could help her. He knew she would probably get sad again but at least she knew she wasn't the only one with the problem and could talk to him. He felt accomplished with their outing.

Rehearsal Dinner

Nicki and Damon were greeting their guest at the door of the room they rented at the hotel. Most in attendance were apart of the wedding party the rest just family. Nicki was happy to be done with the wedding rehearsal. She just wanted Saturday to come and go with out drama. Everyone seemed happy with everything so she was happy. She looked around and didn't see Safaree. He was at the church but said he had to go get something and would meet the wedding party there. It was about time to start eating and he was nowhere insight.

"You ready to bless the food and start eating?" Damon asked. She peeped out the door one last time and still no Safaree.

"Sure let's do it."

"He'll be here baby don't worry." He kissed her lips. They began to walk to the front when Nicki heard Safaree.

"I know y'all not about to start eating without me?"

Nicki turned around with the biggest smile but it soon vanished when she seen that Safaree had brought a girl with him. It wasn't just some random girl because she wouldn't be fuming mad like she was but Safaree knew she didn't like this girl.

"Shante." Nicki said just above a whisper.

"Hello Nicki." She smiled and waved.
